Inverse coloring on Eee PC 1000H 1 and 6 Keys

December 22nd, 2008 by ant

If you look at the 1 and 6 keys on the Eee PC 1000H, you’ll notice circles around the numbers with inversed colors:

100-keys

It appears as though the keys are also like this on Eee PC 904 and Eee PC S101 devices.

Many people on the forum are curious as to why these keys are like this, but nobody seems to have a concrete answer.

What do you think?

ASUS Eee PC 1000H Screen Cracks?

December 21st, 2008 by ant

Two users have reported on the forums that their Eee PC 1000H screens have cracked under low stress situations.

The first user’s screen broke after only having the 1000H for 92 hours this past October, reporting no contact with anything or droppings.

The second user added to the thread this past week, reporting a similar incident and posting a picture. Apparently, it worked fine the night before, but the next morning was already cracked when opened. The crack is not seen on the outside- there is no damage to the front of the screen or the back of the lid.

Has anyone else out there had any incidents like this, or do you think they are just incidental incidents?

Aeeeris 701 tablet case mod breaks cover

December 7th, 2008 by Jon Bradbury

After a long time in development and much speculation, the Aeeeris case mod for the EEEPC 701 has been shown by its developer, forum user PvP_lostknight in this forum discussion.

In essence, the kit comprises a replacement lid that allows you to turn the screen over in order to fit a touchscreen and create what is effectively a tablet PC from an Eeepc 701. In the process, the keyboard and touch pad are removed. There are openings for the loudspeakers and space for the screen controller, and USB hub / touchscreen controller (which you supply yourself, along with the touchscreen panel itself).

Head over to the thread to find out more.
