The 1st benchmarks results of the Intel Atom CPU (Diamondville core) are known now. The Intel Atom 1.6 Ghz CPU is compared with several similar CPU's, including the VIA Isaiah 1.6 GHz CPU.
Eee PC News Germany did run a benchmark with CrystalMark 2004R3 & found out that the VIA CPU is much faster then the Intel Atom CPU. Especially the Alu Benchmark showed the VIA outperforms the Atom CPU. Also the Intel Celeron-M at 1.6 GHz is much faster then the Atom.
This is quite remarkable because VIA didn't produce any fast CPU in the past, so either Intel is releasing a very slow CPU, or VIA did improve their technology.
The Eee PC 900 will feature an Atom CPU in the near future.
