Crucial N125 SSD

If your pre-installed solid state drive in your Netbook doesn't offer enough capacity, Crucial does offer some interesting Netbook SSD upgrades.

Crucial N125 SSD

Register Hardware did test the Crucial N125 SSD. This solid state drive is designed for Netbooks with a PCIe slot & offers 64 GB capacity.

The reviewers tested this SSD on an ASUS Eee PC 900,  which has a 12GB SSD installed by default: a relatively fast 4GB SSD soldered onto the motherboard & a slower, 8GB module. The 8GB module is exposed by removing the hatch on the bottom of the Eee & replaced by removing a couple of screws.

Register Hardware came to this conclusion after some testing:

"Crucial's N125 and N100 are worth considering as an alternative to buying a new, HDD-equipped machine. The 32GB versions are cheaper than 32GB SDHC cards, and 64GB SDHCs a very thin on the ground."

"The downside is the upgrade's speed, which isn't impressive, but at least not really any slower than factory installed SSDs."

The Crucial N125 SSDs are available for about £123/135 Euros (64GB) & £66/73 Euros (32GB)
