Medion Akoya E1210

Medion is set to unveil an ASUS EEE PC 900 competitor with its Akoya E1210 small Laptop.

Medion Akoya E1210

The mini laptop is believed to utilize Intel's small Atom processor running at 1.6GHz or higher & will have at least 1GB of RAM. It will feature an 80GB 1.8 inch HDD, instead of an SSD drive. Like the Eee PC 900, it will also feature a 10" screen.

Operating systems will include a choice of either Linux or Windows XP. The Linux option will result in a lower price or better specifications, or possibly both, thanks to the lower licensing costs.

It will also include a 1.3-megapixel camera, just like the ASUS EEE PC 900, VGA output, integrated memory card reader & at least 2 USB ports along with an ethernet port. WiFi connectivity will include all standards, including draft-n. Color choices will include white or grey.

The Medion Akoya E1210 will be launched in Europe at the end of the summer. In the Netherlands it will be available in August & will 1st be sold by the Gamma DIY shops for an estimated price of 399 Euros (about $630 USD) It seems the Aldi Supermarkets are no longer the exlusive distributors of Medion products. There is no announcement from Medion yet about releasing their Akoya E1210 in other parts of the world.
